Recommended use
The green powder is poured into the chawan cup using a bamboo chasaku spoon. Then, water at 70°C is poured over the tea and stirred using a chasen whisk until a thick froth is obtained.
A weaker and more delicate version of the tea - usucha - is prepared by pouring 70 ml of water over 2 bamboo tea spoons. Then, stir the tea vigorously, using M-shaped movements. A stronger tea, called koicha, is made with 3-4 bamboo spoons of matcha and 40 ml of water. Koicha is a rich infusion that is stirred gently in circular motions.
