Mullein looks like a torch, and its yellow flowers reach up to two meters in height. It is an undemanding plant, growing in less fertile soils, roadsides, and meadows. It is increasingly found in home gardens, but it prefers sunny locations.
Mullein is densely flowered. In the first year of growth, it forms a rosette of leaves at the ground level, and only in the second year does a stem with an inflorescence emerge. The leaves are jowl-shaped and arranged alternately. It is characterized by yellow flowers that are clustered in clusters. Mullein blooms from July to September.
Mullein should be used when suffering from an irritating, persistent cough. A tea made from its flowers soothes a tiring cough, facilitates expectoration, and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is a first aid remedy for colds and flu.
